Ode to the 14th

by József Attila

(The train is taking me, I am going
perhaps I may even find you today.
My burning face may then cool down,
and perhaps you will softly say:

The water is running, take a bath.
Here is a towel for you to dry.
The meat is cooking appease your hunger,
this is your bed, where I lie.)

Translated by Thomas Kabdebo

(Visz a vonat, megyek utánad,
talán ma még meg is talállak,
talán kihűl e lángoló arc,
talán csendesen meg is szólalsz:

Csobog a langyos víz, fürödj meg!
Ime a kendő, törülközz meg!
Sül a hús, enyhítse étvágyad!
Ahol én fekszem, az az ágyad.)

Charlotte Caron

In this series of portraits, Charlotte Caron focuses on the complexity of human nature. We are one part civilized and one part wild. As Caron cites the theories by Antoine Spire, we are attracted to human similarities in animals, and we are also attracted to the idea of the bestial human.
The idea of using mixed media for a portrait is also a rather unique combination. As Caron describes these works,
“The goal is to ultimately create an osmosis between the two mediums [painting and photography], similar to that between the animal and the human.”
Or as Marshall McLuhan would say, “the medium is the message.” For more on Charlotte Caron, click here

New city- New life

Finally, I decided to move forward and do something about that voice inside of me that kept telling
me I should express myself. So, here I am living in a somewhat bigger city than my hometown, still
full of questions but excited. Drawing day and night, tasting all the enjoyment this city has to offer.
I thought I'd share some photos with you guys; some of them were taken on the street, others in my
dorm room or at the workshop and of course- what student life would be true without parties!

Back to school with Thakoon

I absolutely adore the Thakoon Addition Pre Fall 2012 collection! It is just what I've
imagined for my fall wardrobe. For those of us starting college this autumn (in my case- a
chance to start over), this can be an excellent guide for creating an edgy college look. The
fresh floral prints, feminine pastel army patterns, swingy coats with oversize cargo pockets
and cardigans create a 60's style G. I. Jane, whom the designer himself described as "flirty, cheeky military". I wouldn't mind having all of these items in my closet...
